How do organizations successfully implement AI in healthcare simulation?

Artificial intelligence has become one of the fastest-growing innovations in healthcare education and simulation. While significant attention has focused on developing AI tools, comparatively little attention has been devoted to understanding how organizations successfully implement these technologies in practice. Many organizations remain uncertain about governance, readiness, workflow integration, faculty preparation, ethical oversight, and long-term sustainability. Because implementation failures frequently occur despite technically capable AI solutions, understanding the organizational complexity surrounding adoption represents an important opportunity to improve educational effectiveness, operational success, and ultimately patient care.

Stakeholder Perspectives on Implementing AI in Healthcare Simulation

Human-centered design begins with listening. Before proposing solutions to the challenges of implementing artificial intelligence in healthcare simulation, it is essential to understand the experiences, concerns, and priorities of those working across the ecosystem. To establish this foundation, stakeholder perspectives were synthesized from the 2026 AI Simulation Healthcare Summit Forum, where leaders from healthcare simulation, clinical practice, academia, engineering, artificial intelligence, ethics, technology, and industry collaborated to examine current implementation practices, barriers, and opportunities. Rather than serving as a conclusion, these discussions mark the beginning of an ongoing effort to understand the complex human, organizational, technological, and ethical factors that influence successful AI implementation in healthcare simulation. The themes emerging from these discussions provide the starting point for defining the implementation problem and identifying opportunities for meaningful innovation.

From Conversation to Implementation

The 2026 AI Simulation Healthcare Summit Forum Proceedings capture the collective perspectives of simulation leaders, clinicians, educators, AI experts, engineers, ethicists, and industry partners working to operationalize artificial intelligence in healthcare simulation. More than a summary of discussions, these proceedings provide a foundation for understanding the complex organizational, technological, educational, and human factors that influence successful AI implementation.
